INCLEMENT WEATHER UPDATE

Out of an abundance of caution, Monday, January 26, will be an eLearning day for all students and staff. As a result of this weekend’s winter storm, there is potential for ice accumulation across Sumter County. Forecast projections indicate approximately 0.10–0.25 inches of ice, with some northern locations potentially seeing 0.25–0.50 inches.

Ice accumulation may create significant travel hazards and could result in utility service disruptions. Our top priority is ensuring the safety of our students, employees, families, and bus drivers who travel to and from school.

On eLearning days, all schools and office buildings are closed, and all activities, including athletic events and field trips, are canceled. As an approved eLearning district, this day will not need to be made up. Lessons and assignments will be posted in Schoology. Students may complete assignments later if they are unable to participate due to power outages, lack of internet access, or other barriers.

Sumter School District works closely with emergency management and law enforcement officials when making decisions related to inclement weather. While forecasts may change, we wanted to provide our families and staff with ample notice to prepare.

Please remain safe.
