MSgt. Eric Avery, JROTC Instructor, was named the Crestwood High School Campus Teacher of the Year for the 2021-2022 school year.

Master Sergeant (Retired) Eric Houston Avery is currently serving as Senior Aerospace Science Instructor (SASI) of the SC-873. He served as Advance Aerospace Science Instructor from 2006 to 2018. He was recognized as an Outstanding Instructor for eight years. He was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He served honorably in the United States Air Force and retired after more than 20 years of service. He is married to the lovely Linda Avery she is also a teacher at Crestwood. They have two sons Jonathon and Mark they both reside in Las Vegas, NV. He has one daughter in law Shavontae. He has four awesome and AMAZING grandchildren, Sean, Jace, Ariana, and Aaliyah.

Community Involvement: Eric is totally involved in the community serves as Deacon, Couple’s Ministry Leader, Armed Forces President, and President of Athletics Ministry at Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church, Sumter SC. He has volunteered many hours to youth in the community as a coach and mentor. He is Chairman of the MH Newton Family Life Center Board. He organized numerous groups to conduct community projects to help elderly and underprivileged youth. He earned the Sumter Military Citizen of the Year Award.
